Fresh Homemade Beetroot Juice
Ingredients
- 1 medium fresh beetroot
- 1 apple
- 1 medium carrot
- ½ lemon
- 1 small piece fresh ginger
- 1–1½ cups cold water
- Ice cubes, optional
Step 1: Prepare the Beetroot
Wash the beetroot thoroughly under running water. Peel it and cut it into small pieces.
Step 2: Prepare the Other Ingredients
Wash the apple and carrot. Remove the apple core and chop both into smaller pieces.
Peel the ginger and cut the lemon in half.
Step 3: Blend
Add the beetroot, apple, carrot, ginger, and water to a blender.
Blend for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
Step 4: Strain
For a smooth juice, pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or clean cheesecloth.
Press gently with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.
For a thicker, fiber-rich drink, you can skip straining.
Step 5: Add Lemon
Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice and stir well.
Taste the juice. If it is too strong, add a little more cold water.
Step 6: Serve
Pour into a glass and add ice if desired.
Drink it fresh for the best flavor.

Helpful Tips
- Choose firm, fresh beetroot without soft spots.
- Start with a small amount of ginger because its flavor can be strong.
- Fresh lemon helps balance beetroot’s earthy taste.
- Beetroot can temporarily turn urine or stool pink/red; this can be harmless after eating beetroot.
- If you have a medical condition or have been advised to limit dietary nitrates, check with your healthcare professional before making beetroot juice a regular drink.
- Because juice contains less fiber than whole vegetables and fruit, don’t rely on it as a replacement for whole foods.
